I knew loving someone who kills would be hard, but I really had no idea the gravity of the pain and stress and guilt I would experience.
I see how big his heart is, and how much love he has for me and the world around him.
I also see the trauma, torture and rage in his eyes.
I see how he could love and be happy if it weren’t for the lives he’s had to take, or the men he had to lose, or the life he had as a child.
He’s what you call a warrior, he’s the man you see in movies who will throw his life away in one second to save someone else, yet will do anything to come home to you.
I wish forever I could handle the suffering, so that he could have one stable thing in his life, so that he could have one warm comfort to lay on and to come.
I never knew someone could love me this much, and it breaks my heart more than getting fucked over.
A man that has gone to war is never the same, it is always with them, they will carry it everyday for the rest of their lives.
I respect him more than anyone I know. I love him more than anyone that has ever had my heart, but in a different way. Not the love that consumes you, makes you feel desperate and makes you feel that if you can’t have them you don’t want to live.
The love I feel for him is a love that exceeds need. Which is the best love says Buddha.

I wish I believed in god so I could pray for his protection and pray that he gets better and that he comes home but my brain won’t let me believe that. Even if we never talk again I hope everyday that he is okay, that he doesn’t have to watch a brother die or lose his legs.

I wish those of you in this country that aren’t apart of the military in any way could understand the level of suffering these men experience. Sure they are warriors, but they are humans too. They are husbands, sons, brothers, uncles. They are more than a rifleman or a mortar man.

He told me any marine or soldier that tells you they aren’t scared over there is a liar, the best fighter is shitting his pants.

This is the most intense thing I think I will ever experience, this is real.

This love isn’t petty, selfish, or cruel.

This love is the love you feel when you don’t know if you’ll be alive in a year.
